A nine year old girl remains in critical condition after a bag of cement fell on top of her as she walked past a building under construction in the capital Male on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 10.45am in Maafannu ward on Sunday.
CCTV footage from a nearby building showed the girl walking just ahead of what appears to be her nanny before a bag of cement falls on top of her head.
The girl appears to be unconscious before a bystander picks her up and hoists her over his shoulder before rushing away.
A hospital official said the girl is in critical condition but said the extent of her injuries was unclear.
The latest incident has sparked fresh public concern over construction safety especially in the congested capital Male.
