'New schools will be designed to allow more space'

New schools will be constructed under a different design concept in order allow the establishment of more spacious study environments, Education Minister Aishath Ali said Sunday.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the largest school in Maldives, Huravee School, the minister noted on Sunday that more space is immediately needed by the schools conducting the Breakfast Pilot Program.

The incumbent government has pledged to provide a government-sponsored healthy breakfast to all students of Maldives. As many as 25 schools began serving the early morning meal under a pilot program with the start of the new academic year on Sunday.

In her speech, the Minister stressed on the importance of establishing new schools in the Male' area in order to cater to the ever-growing population in Male' and Hulhumale' suburbs.

Huravee School becomes the largest school in Maldives at the moment. The school is named after the family of "Dhon Bandaara", a Sultan from Maldivian history who liberated Maldives from Malabars in 1763.
