Four people have been arrested in connection to a robbery in Maakurathu island of Raa Atoll.
The four men, aged 19, 21, 21, and 62 were arrested under a court order.
The Island Council and Health Center were both robbed on Thursday night.
Maakurath Council member, Hassan Ali, confirmed that the safe of the Island Council was broken into, while the safe at the Health Center was also stolen. There were signs that the Magistrate Court of the island had been broken into the same night.
Hassan Ali said MVR 83,000 was stolen from the council's safe while the Health Center safe contained about MVR 15,000. It is unknown if the cash has been recovered.
