Atoll school in Feeali island of Faafu atoll has been closed over sudden dengue outbreak.
The school, where over 200 students are enrolled, will be closed for five days.
14 children from Feeali Island who recently tested positive for Dengue fever has been brought to capital Male' for further treatment, out of which one patient is being transferred abroad due the severity of his case.
The island with a population of over 1000 is fogged everyday in a bid to control the spread of the fever.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.
