17 individuals were arrested on Friday for using and trading recreational drugs in capital Male'.
The police revealed that the he Police Intelligence Department, together with Drug Enforcement Intelligence raided a home in Galolhu ward of Male' city after they received a tip of ongoing drug trade. Men between ages 18 and 38 were arrested in the operation.
The police searched the premises under a court order and discovered 10 cellophane wrapped packets and 164 rubber packets, along with a film can containing substances suspected to be drugs.
The police are currently investigating the case further.
