Jailed former vice president, Ahmed Adeeb has been transferred to house arrest.
The transfer was made sometime on Tuesday night, after Adeeb was treated under hospitalization at state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) earlier the same day. The duration of his house arrest is unknown, and it cannot be determined if the move was advised by his doctors.
Adeeb, who has been jailed for over 33 years on conviction on several charges of terrorism and corruption, was held under house arrest last November due to his health condition. After being under house arrest for longer than a month, he was transferred back to jail on 2nd January.
After his transfer back to jail, he was again hospitalized due to deteriorating health. The High Court then ordered to transfer him home when a case was filed by Adeeb claiming the government was negligent in providing him the necessary healthcare. However, the Supreme Court had overruled the High Court's order.
