Mookai Suites in capital Male' has been vacated after a fire incident.
The police stated that cables on the ground floor of the building caught on fire, with smoke coming out of all light holders on all floors of the building. Reports of the incident were received around 9.27pm and teams were dispatched to the location immediately to vacate the building.
MNDF revealed that the fire is now under control, and they are currently working to clear the smoke coming out of the light holders.
An official from Mookai Suites said only a few guests were checked in to the hotel at the time of the incident, and are currently being transferred to Mookai Hotel. He confirmed that no guests or staff were injured in the incident.
