Home Ministry provides financial support for island projects

Ministry of Home Affairs signed agreements to provide financial assistance to support projects in four islands.

The agreements were signed with the councils of Aa. Himandhoo, N. Holhudhoo, Th. Vilufushi and N. Kudafari.

Home Ministry signed the agreement with Kudafari council and Vilufushi council on Sunday. Kudafaree Council will be receiving an assistance of MVR 300,000 to install street lamps while MVR 251,642 will be spent by the island council for the project. MVR 289,131.15 was provided to Vilufushi council to build a children's park, and the island council will be arranging the remaining 170,000 required for the project.

On 8th August 2019, an agreement was signed between N. Holhudhoo Council and the Home Ministry to provide a financial assistance of MVR 245,250 to build a community park on the island. The Council will be utilizing MVR 216،000 for the project.

The Ministry also signed an agreement with the council of Himandhoo island to provide aid to build a children's park on the island. Under the agreement, the Ministry will be providing an assistance of MVR 300,000 while the island council will be spending MVR 502،000 on the project.

All four agreements were signed by the State Minister of Home Ministry Ali Nazeer and the respective council representatives from the islands.

17 islands will receive assistance to carry out projects under Home Ministry's assistance program, with six island receiving funds to install street lamps and to build parks. While four islands will receive funding to build the outer walls of the island cemeteries, one island will be receiving assistance to install channel beacons. The islands that would receive assistance were decided after checking the proposals submitted by different islands and choosing the best proposals.
