One killed in chemical godown blaze

A 49-year old woman who was unaccounted for during Friday night's fire at a Henveiru godown has been found dead.

The police confirmed an individual had been discovered dead, although they did not disclose the victim's identity.

It has been reported that the victim is missing woman Aishath Shauna from Thaa Burunee, a resident at H. Randhuvaaniaage. She last contacted a relative to inform she was trapped in the building and asked to be rescued, it has been reported.

The Defense Minister earlier said all civilians in the building had been rescued. However, the woman was later reported as missing.

A massive fire broke out at a chemical godown in capital Male' around 7.30 pm on Friday. While over 90% of the fire has been controlled, seven buildings were affected in the fire.
