A stray bullet fire at the MNDF Girifushi Training Center grazed a tourist aboard a safari moored off the island.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, following which the tourist was brought to Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale' for treatment. He did not sustain serious injuries in the incident.
MNDF said the bullet ricocheted off another surface and hence had lost energy before grazing the tourist's neck.
The police are investigating the case.
The use of live bullets during training at Girifushi island has been temporarily halted following the incident.
