A British tourist holidaying at Kuredu Island Resort drowned on Sunday.
Police said they received reports of a 69 year old female tourist from the United Kingdom drowning at Kuredu Island Resort on Sunday. The body of the deceased has been taken to Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale', said the police.
Police said the victim had already passed away by the time she was taken to the hospital. The case is being investigated further.
Earlier this year, there was a string of drownings in which several tourists lost their lives. The Tourism Ministry are taking steps to prevent such incidents.
