Maldives Immigration has said that they have requested Maldives Police Services to investigate companies that are suspected of human trafficking.
The Immigration has said on Wednesday night that they have reported to police, information of three companies that are bringing expatriates for various projects and are suspected of human trafficking.
These issues are reported to the police with their communications regarding the issues including information of the parties involved, said Maldives Immigration. Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing, any foreigners'-related immigration service for the shareholders of these companies and to other parties involved in the matter has been suspended.
Maldives Immigration has said that including this issue they have reported 27 such cases until to date.
