The dinghy in which missing man Nasrullah Abdulla was traveling in when the accident occurred last week has been located.
The incident occurred five days ago near the Angafaru lagoon of Baa Atoll. Nasrullah Abdulla has been lost at sea following the accident.
Authorities have been conducting a large-scale search operation in an attempt to locate Nasrullah. While no signs of the dinghy vessel was found until Tuesday, the vessel was found 40 meters below the surface between Dhonfanu island of the atoll and Angafaru lagoon on Wednesday. The vessel has now been recovered to the surface, said MNDF's Information Officer Major Ibrahim Azim. However, Nasrullah still remains missing.
Nasrullah Abdulla, 41 was traveling in a dinghy boat with two relatives of his wife when it met with an accident with the speedboat. Although the exact location at which the accident took place is unknown, it is believed the incident occurred between Dhonfanu island and Hanifaru island of Baa Atoll. While Nasrullah has been lost at sea during the incident, MNDF has not ceased their search operation.
While all involved in the accident sustained injuries of various degrees, the captain of the speedboat Mohamed Mustafa suffered a severe cut on his face and sustained a broken hand and finger. He also received nerve damage to his tongue. He was initially treated at Baa Atoll Hospital and was later transferred to state-run IGMH in capital Male' on Friday after his condition deteriorated. The foreign crewmember of the speedboat's ear was severed in the accident.
