Japanese govt makes donation to Guraidhoo Special Needs Home

The Government of Japan has donated MVR 1.3 million to the Home for People with Special Needs in K. Guraidhoo.

The donation was handed over during a ceremony held in Guraidhoo island on Friday.

Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Her Excellency Ms Keiko Yanai handed over the donation on behalf of the Japanese government, which was received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Home, Imran Ibrahim.

Ministry of Gender said the financial assistance will be utilized to renovate and expand the medical clinic at the home, and to establish a first aid arrangements to tend to the patients of the home in emergency situations. The donation will help to enhance the services provided to the residents of the home, said the ministry.

Around 200 people currently reside in the home.
