MDP's Women's Development Committee Primary postponed

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Women's Development Committee Primary has been postponed.

It was previously decided to hold the primary on Friday. However, MDP revealed Thursday that it has been postponed to February 17.

Voting will ensue on the 17th from 2:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

652 members will be contending in the Women's Development Committee primary. The party has also publicized the candidate list.

The Women's Development Committee elections are to be held on the same date as the Local Council Elections on April 4.

This year, 895 women from islands will be appointed to the Women's Development Committee and 40 members from the cities. Elections Commission has stated that candidates must be a member of the city or island they represent in order to be eligible to contend.
