Remaining Maldivians in Wuhan evacuated

The two remaining Maldivians in Wuhan, China have been evacuated from the country and transferred to India.

Nine Maldivians were in Wuhan, the epicentre of the dangerous coronavirus outbreak when the virus first started spreading. While seven Maldivians were earlier evacuated from the city, two individuals stayed back.

However, the two individuals have now been evacuated with the aid of India, and are currently quarantined in New Delhi for a period of 14 days after arriving at the city on Thursday morning.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid thanked India for their assistance in evacuating the Maldivian citizens.
