COVID-19: Four patients placed on ventilator

The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has revealed that four COVID-19 patients are being treated on ventilators.

Speaking at NEOC's daily press briefing on Monday night, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) said three patients are being treated at the ICU established for COVID-19 patients in DH11 facility of Dharumavantha Hospital, out of which two have been placed on ventilator support. They are two local males aged 70 and 88, said the doctor. The third patient is a 44 year old Pakistani national.

Privately-run Tree Top Hospital is working with the Government to support the national COVID-19 response. In this regard, the services and facilities of the hospital is being provided to the government as the primary COVID-19 treatment facility. 11 patients are currently hospitalised at the facility. Dr. Afzal said two foreign nationals aged 54 and 29 receiving treatment at Tree Top Hospital have been placed on ventilators.

The Maldives has recorded 862 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Three deaths are linked to the pandemic.
