The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has revealed that 43 children below the age of 10 are among those infected with COVID-19 in the Maldives.
Speaking at the centre's daily press conference on Saturday, NEOC's spokesperson Mabrook Azeez said out of the 1672 positive cases recorded in the Maldives thus far, 21 people are above the age of 65. While 43 children below the age of 10 are among those infected, 53 people with chronic illnesses also tested positive for the virus. All three groups are vulnerable groups to COVID-19.
Mabrook said 13 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 at Tree Top Hospital, two of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. He further noted that 87 people with no links to any known clusters are also among the infected.
