The Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Saturday said 18 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded over the past 24 hours.
HPA said the new cases include 13 locals, three Bangladeshi nationals, one Srilankan and one Nepalese national. The total number of positive cases is now at 1,901. Authorities also announced 46 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 763.
A 38-year old Bangladeshi national succumbed to the illness on Saturday, raising the COVID-19 toll to 8. The number of active cases is currently 1128, said HPA.
28,94 samples have been collected for testing to date. Testing is being carried out at state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, privately-run ADK Hospital and Police Forensics Lab.
