Daily COVID-19 stats: 20 new cases, 111 recoveries

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Wednesday announced 20 new cases of COVID-19.

HPA said the new cases are of 16 Maldivian nationals and four Bangladeshi nationals. The new cases include three children aged 2, 5 and 7. The number of positive cases recorded in the Maldives is now at 1962.

HPA also announced 111 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1121. More than half of the total number of positive cases identified in the Maldives have now recovered from the illness.

The Maldives have recorded eight COVID-19 fatalities to date: four elderly locals and four Bangladeshi expatriates.

According to authorities, 398 people are currently in quarantine while 932 people are in isolation.
