Maldives records ninth COVID-19 related death

The Maldives recorded its 9th COVID-19 related death on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 43-year-old Filipino male admitted at DH11 passed away at 01:50 pm. He was among the three patients who were shifted to DH11 from Tree Top Hospital due to critical condition.

Four elderly locals and four Bangladeshi nationals are among those who passed away from the illness in the Maldives. While over 100 days have passed since the first case of infection was detected in the Maldives, 2,337 have tested positive for the virus to date. The strict preventive measures in the Maldives are being relaxed in phases, and a new phase is set to begin on July 1.
