Daily COVID-19 stats: Tally at 2400, recovery at 83 percent

The Maldives on Thursday recorded 18 new cases of COVID-19.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the new cases are of 7 Maldivians and 11 foreigners. This brings the total number of positive cases to 2,400.

HPA also announced 15 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,969. This figure accounts to over 83 percent of total cases in Maldives.

The archipelago recorded its 11 COVID-19 deaths late Thursday. A 39-year old Indonesian national passed away while being treated at the DH11 facility in Dharumavantha Hospital. This is the 2nd consecutive death in two days.

52,962 samples have been tested for COVID-19 thus far, out of which 1,240 samples were tested over the past 24 hours. Authorities said 275 individuals are currently at isolation facilities while 115 individuals are at quarantine facilities.
