COVID-19: Least number of samples tested on Saturday

The least amount of samples were tested for COVID-19 in the Maldives on Saturday.

The past 48 hours recorded the most number of positive cases since the archipelago relaxed the strict lockdown measures imposed in the island nation. 47 new cases were recorded on Saturday while 64 new cases were recorded the previous day.

Although testing capacity has increased since the pandemic first reached Maldives, and over 1000 samples were being tested daily, the least number of samples were tested over the past 24 hours with only 236 samples tested. Almost 20 percent of the samples came back positive.

60,217 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the Maldives thus far. Testing is carried out at state run IGMH in addition to privately run ADK Hospital and the police forensics lab.
