Entry and exit from Kudafari island in Noonu atoll has been restricted after an elderly man who was brought to capital Male’ from the island tested positive for COVID-19.
An official from Kudafari island council said a 90 year old man who was sent to Male’ for medical treatment tested positive for the virus. He suffered an injury after a fall and first sought treatment at Manadhoo island in the same atoll. He was sent to Male’ from Manadhoo. His first test result for COVID-19 came back positive, and a second sample is being tested for further confirmation.
A 29 year old male who completed home quarantine in R. Hulhudhuffaaru after traveling from Male’ has also tested positive for the virus. Hulhudhuffaaru Island Council said his result came back positive when he was tested prior to being released from quarantine. The patient is doing well, and has not been in contact with any other individual, said the council.
