Fishing vessel sinks in rough sea, fishermen rescued

Nine fishermen stranded in the sea after their fishing vessel sank have been rescued.

According to Maldives National Defence Force, some fishermen were adrift on the sea after their Dhoani sank while they were fishing near Male’ Atoll Hura fishing raft. The vessel sank due to severe weather condition.

The nine fishers were rescued by another Dhoani that passed by. After that, the Coast Guard has ferried the people to Male.

This is the monsoon season in the Maldives. The country has been experiencing severe weather conditions, flooding, and sea swells during these days.
