The Maldives on Monday recorded 33 new cases of COVID-19.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the new cases are of 23 Maldivians and 10 foreigners. This brings the total number of positive cases in Maldives to 2,999.
7 new recoveries were also recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,369. The number of active cases is 600 and 15 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded thus far.
While a total of 67,985 samples have been tested for COVID-19, 721 samples were tested over the past 24 hours. Authorities said 475 individuals are currently at isolation facilities none are at quarantine facilities.
The Maldives relaxed most of the precautionary measures implemented to stop the spread of the virus after the number of positive cases began declining. However, the numbers seem to be on the rise once again, recording the largest increase in positive cases over the past week.
