COVID-19:137 new cases; health officials express concern

The Maldives on Tuesday recorded 137 positive cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency, HPA said 92 Maldivian nationals and 45 foreigners tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. The tally is now at 3,506.

The number of positive cases have been on the rise since the Maldives relaxed lockdown measures. Since then, the most number of new cases were identified on Tuesday.

While 2,547 people have recovered from the illness until now, no recoveries were recorded over the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is 929.

The Maldives has recorded 15 COVID-19 deaths to date. Authorities have warned that the death toll would continue to climb if the number of new cases keep on increasing.
