The Maldives on Sunday recorded its largest spike daily cases thus far.
The Health Protection Agency, HPA said 215 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. They include 149 Maldivians and 66 foreigners, bringing the total number of positive cases to 4,164.
HPA also announced one new death, raising the toll to 18. This is the second COVID-19 death over the past 48 hours.
Meanwhile, 30 new recoveries were recorded on Sunday bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,643. The number of active cases is 1,489.
