Raa Ungoofaaru has been lifted from monitoring status after all direct contacts of a COVID-19 positive patient tested negative for the virus.
Ungoofaaru was placed on the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s monitoring status after a patient who was transferred to capital Male’ from Ungoofaru Hospital tested positive for COVID-19. Seven doctors and 21 nurses linked to the case were isolated, and samples of five individuals who came in direct contact with the patient were tested. All samples came back negative. The island has therefore been lifted from monitoring status.
The number of positive cases recorded in the Maldives has been inceasing over the past few days. The virus has been detected in several atolls as well.
