The Health Emergency Operations Centre, HEOC has stated that 6 COVID-19 patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit and that one patient is on ventilator support.
Speaking at HEOC’s press conference on Wednesday night, the centre’s Spokesperson, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said 110 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalised. This includes 85 patients admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility, 8 in Dharumavantha Hospital and one patient in both Sh. Funadhoo COVID centre and B. Eydhafushi COVID centre.
The two patients admitted at DH11 are both in critical condition and are being treated in the ICU, said HEOC. Six pregnant women with COVID-19 are admitted at the DH16 facility at the same hospital.
6 out of the 85 of patients in Hulhumale Medical Facility are under intensive care, out of which one is on ventilator support.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has been rapidly increasing over the past few days. The archipelago on Wednesday record 146 new cases bringing the total number of cases to 4,594. 19 deaths have been recorded to date.
