The Maldives’ COVID-19 tally has climbed back up to three digit figures for the second consecutive day, crossing the 5,000 mark.
The archipelago recorded 143 new cases on Sunday, out of which 140 cases were identified in epicentre, capital Male’.
According to the Health Protection Agency, HPA, the new cases are of 107 locals and 36 foreigners. The total number of cases identified in the Maldives is now 5,041.
HPA also announced 13 new recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,804. While 2,218 cases are currently active, 19 deaths have been recorded to date.
The Maldives has reimposed several restrictive measures due to the worsening situation in the capital. In this regard, a night-time curfew is now in place from 10:00 pm to 05:00 am, and movements from Male to the atolls have been prohibited.
