Daily COVID-19 stats: 144 new cases, 35 recoveries

The Maldives on Wednesday recorded 144 cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency, HPA said 140 cases were identified in the Greater Male’ area, while the rest of the cases were identified from the atolls. The new cases are of 87 Maldivians and 57 foreigners. The total number of cases is now at 5,366.

HPA also announced 35 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,884. The archipelago also recorded its 21st death over the past 24 hours. 2,461 cases are currently active.
