Daily COVID-19 stats: 194 new cases, tally crosses 6500-mark

The Maldives on Friday recorded 194 new cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency, HPA said 191 cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region while three cases were identified from the atolls. According to HPA, the new cases are of 167 locals and 17 foreigners. The total number of cases recorded in the Maldives is now at 6,564.

HPA also announced 97 recoveries on Friday, raising the number of recoveries to 4,012. While 26 deaths have been recorded to date, with two deaths recorded over the past 24 hours, the number of active cases is 2,527. Out of these, 166 patients are currently hospitalised. This is the highest number of COVID-19 hospitalisations recorded in the Maldives until now.
