Daily COVID-19 stats: Tally exceeds 7000-mark, toll at 28

The Maldives on Tuesday registered 135 new cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 126 cases were detected in the Greater Male’ Area while the remaining 12 cases were identified from the atolls. The new cases are of 109 locals and 26 foreigners. The tally has now crossed the 7000-mark to reach 7,047 positive cases.

HPA also announced 187 new recoveries over the past 24 hours. The total number of recoveries is now at 4,297. A COVID-19 dath was registered in the capital early Tuesday morning, raising the toll to 28. The number of active cases is 2,580, out of which 171 are hospitalised at treatment centres.
