Former President of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has been admitted at the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
Gayyoom, 83, announced that he had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. It has been reported that he consulted at a hospital due to symptoms of a cold, and was tested for the virus. The results, which were recieved on Tuesday night, showed that he was positive for COVID-19. A family member confirmed that the former president has now been transferred to DH11.
Gayyoom was the president of the Maldives for six terms through 1979 to 2008.
