Daily COVID-19 stats: Maldives records 66 new cases

The Maldives on Thursday recorded 66 new cases of COVID-19.

The number of positive cases recorded in the Maldives has remained below 100 for five consecutive days. Thursday’s figure is the lowest number of daily cases recorded over the past few weeks.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 63 cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region and that the remaining 3 cases were recorded from the atolls. While the new cases are of 50 locals and 16 foreigners, the total number of positive cases is now at 8,900.

HPA also announced 271 recoveries over the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 6,559. While 2,304 cases are active, 134 patients are currently hospitalised. 31 deaths have been recorded to date.
