Latest COVID-19 stats: 67 new cases, number of recoveries cross 8,000

The Maldives on Thursday recorded 67 cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,438 COVID-19 tests were carried out until 6pm Thursday, out of which 67 tests came back positive. 62 cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region while five cases were recorded in the atolls. The figure includes 44 locals and 23 foreigners. The total number of cases identified in the Maldives is now at 9,494.

HPA also announced 130 recoveries on Thursday, raising the total number of recoveries to 8,033. While 33 deaths have been recorded to date, the number of active cases is 1,422. Out of these, 104 people are currently admitted at medical facilities.
