The Maldives on Saturday recorded 81 cases of COVID-19.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,408 COVID-19 tests were carried out during the 24 hours before 6pm Saturday, out of which 81 tests came back positive. 70 cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region while 11 cases were recorded in the atolls. The figure includes 58 locals and 23 foreigners. The total number of cases identified in the Maldives is edging towards the 10,000-mark and currently tallies at 9,649.
HPA also announced 111 recoveries on Saturday, raising the total number of recoveries to 8,188. While 33 deaths have been recorded to date, the number of active cases is 1,422. Out of these, 48 cases are from 21 different islands of the archipelago. 111 people are currently admitted at medical facilities.
