COVID-19: Daily number of cases below 50 for second consecutive day

The Maldives on Tuesday recorded 48 cases of COVID-19. This is the second consecutive day where the number of daily cases has remained below 50.

The Health Protection Agency said 1,190 samples were tested in the 24 hours leading up to 6pm on Tuesday. Out of the 48 positive cases, 28 cases are of locals while the remaining 20 cases are of foreigners. All but one were identified in the Greater Male Region. The total number of cases identified in the Maldives is now at 9,818.

HPA also announced 48 recoveries on Tuesday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 8,438. While 34 deaths have been recorded to date, 1,340 cases are currently active across Maldives, including 42 cases in the atolls.
