Lastest COVID-19 stats: 53 new cases

The Maldives on Sunday recorded 53 cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,454 samples were tested in the 24 hours leading up to 6:00 pm of Sunday, out of which 53 samples tested positive for COVID-19. All but six cases were identified in the capital Male’ region. The new cases are of 42 locals and 11 foreigners. The total number of cases recorded in the Maldives is now at 10,098.

HPA also announced 93 recoveries on Sunday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 8,847. While 1,210 cases are currently active across Maldives, 34 deaths have been recorded to date. 83 people are currently hospitalised out of which five people are in critical condition. Cases are active in 19 islands and 23 resorts across Maldives.
