Daily COVID-19 stats: 44 new cases

The Maldives on Friday registered 44 new cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,519 samples were tested in the 24 hours leading up to 6:00 pm of Wednesday, out of which 44 samples tested positive for COVID-19. 40 cases were identified in the capital Male’ region and the remaining four cases were identified from the atolls. The new cases are of 39 locals and five foreigners. The total number of cases recorded in the Maldives is now at 10,398.

HPA also announced 25 recoveries on Friday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 9,213. While 1,133 cases are currently active across Maldives, 34 deaths have been recorded to date. Cases are active in 24 islands and 21 resorts across Maldives.
