Daily COVID-19 stats: 86 new cases, 42 recoveries

The Maldives on Thursday registered 86 new cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,356 samples were tested in the 24 hours leading up to 6:00 pm of Thursday, out of which 86 samples tested positive for COVID-19. 57 cases were identified in the capital Male’ region and the remaining cases were identified from the atolls. The new cases are of 72 locals and f14 foreigners, raising the total number of cases recorded in the Maldives to 10,742.

HPA also announced 42 recoveries on Thursday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 9,589. While 1,112 cases are currently active across Maldives, 34 deaths have been recorded to date. Cases are active in 18 islands and 20 resorts across Maldives.
