New COVID-19 death, Maldives' toll at 35

The Maldives on Sunday recorded an additional COVID-19 death.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 6 year old Maldivian female admitted at the DH11 facility in Dharumavantha Hospital passed away on Sunday afternoon at 2:20 pm. This is the 35th COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives.

The Maldives witnessed a record increase in the number of positive cases and deaths earlier in August. While 3,900 cases and 12 deaths were recorded in August, the numbers have declined since then. Over 10,800 positive cases have been recorded to date. Cases are currently active in 22 islands across Maldives.
