A large amount of drugs have been seized from a fishing vessel moored at Hulhumale’ lagoon.
In a tweet posted on Monday, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said over 100 kg of heroin and methamphetamine were seized in an operation carried out by the Drug Enforcement Department with the assistance of Drug Intelligence and Marine police on Monday morning.
In his tweet, the commissioner said the social and economic impact from narcotic drug trafficking is high and that the police ill continue efforts to disupt drug trade.
Approximatelt 100 kg of drugs were seized last week in an operation carried out by the police in southernmost Addu City. 14 people were arrested in the four-day long operation.
