Daily COVID-19 stats: 24 new cases

The Maldives on Saturday registered 24 new cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,572 samples were tested in the 24 hours leading up to 6:00 pm of Saturday, out of which 24 samples tested positive for COVID-19. All 26 cases were identified in the capital Male’ region.

The new cases are of 20 locals and 6 foreigners, raising the total number of cases recorded in the Maldives to 11,178.

While 1,138 cases are currently active across Maldives, 36 deaths have been recorded to date, with the most recent death registered on Saturday morning. Cases are active in 20 islands and 19 resorts across Maldives.
