The Maldives on Monday recorded 22 positive cases of COVID-19.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,388 samples were tested on Monday, out of which 22 samples came back positive. This is a significant decline compared to the figures recorded earlier this month.
According to HPA, 18 cases were identified in the Grater Male' Region while the remaining four cases were identified from the atolls. Out of these, 17 are locals. The total number of positive cases recorded to date is now at 11,232.
The number of active cases has fallen below 1,000 for the first time in recent weeks. While 987 cases are currently active, 37 deaths have been recorded to date. Cases are active in 20 islands and 20 resorts across Maldives.
