The Maldives on Wednesday recorded 45 positive cases of COVID-19.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,801 samples were tested on Monday, out of which 45 samples came back positive. This is a significant decline compared to the figures recorded earlier this month.
According to HPA, 43 cases were identified in the Greater Male' Region. Out of these, 38 are foreigners and 8 are locals. The total number of positive cases recorded to date is now at 11,316.
The number of active cases fell below 1,000 last Monday for the first time in recent weeks and have remained in three digit figures over the past two days. While 988 cases are currently active across 21 islands and 18 resorts across Maldives, 37 deaths have been recorded to date.
