COVID-19: Recoveries at 92 percent, 820 cases active

COVID-19 recoveries recorded in the Maldives have surpassed 10,700.

While 236 days have passed since the Maldives recorded its first case of COVID-19, 11,643 people have tested positive for the virus. 92 percent of those infected have now recovered from the illness, a figure which is equivalent to 10,779. A total of 37 deaths have been recorded to date.

820 cases still remain active, out of which 54 are being treated at the hospital. Cases are active across 20 islands and 26 resorts.

The number of cases in the Maldives remained alarmingly high through the month of August, with over 3,900 positive cases and 12 deaths recorded in that time. However, the number of cases have been steadily declining since September, and several restrictions imposed earlier have since been partially relaxed. 27 cases were recorded over the past 24 hours.
