Ungoofaaru removed from HPA monitoring after six days

Raa Ungoofaaru has been removed from under the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s monitoring after six days.

Random sampling was taken from the island after a large number of workers at a nearby resort in development tested positive for the virus. Ungoofaaru was put under HPA’s monitoring after a random sample taken on the island came back positive for COVID-19. However, his second sample later tested negative. The island was still kept under monitoring to determine if a community transmission existed within the island.

All random samples that were tested over the past six days came back negative, and the HPA has concluded that no community transmission is active on the island. Therefore, the island has been removed from monitoring status, and entry and exit from the island is no longer restricted, said HPA.
