Daily stats: Spike in positive cases with 71 new cases

The Maldives Thursday day recorded 71 positive cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,758 samples were tested on Wednesday, out of which 71 samples came back positive.

According to HPA, 60 cases were identified in the Greater Male' Region and 11 cases were identified in the atolls. Out of these, 15 are locals and the 56 are foreigners. The total number of positive cases recorded to date is now at 11,893.

While 838 cases are currently active across 22 islands and 24 resorts, 38 deaths have been recorded to date. 56 patients are currently hospitalised while two are being treated in the ICU.
